A Letter from the Founder
My name is Claudia Reiter, and for eleven years before founding Haus of Bavaria in 2014, I catalogued eighteenth-century European porcelain at Sotheby's. The pieces that stayed with me — the ones I could not stop thinking about — were never the most expensive. They were the ones made by hand, in workshops I could drive to, by families I could name.
Each spring and autumn I spend three weeks on the road through Oberbayern and the Allgäu, sitting at long workshop tables, drinking coffee with the people who shape, blow, and turn the objects you receive. Today, twenty-three of those families let us carry their work in North America. Every piece you find here is signed, dated, and shipped with the artisan's name on its Maker's Provenance Card.
Thank you for letting us share them with you.
